University City Duathlon

The University City Duathlon is a multisport event that takes you through the beautiful roads and greenways of University City's research park. The race begins with a 5K run through the greenway, followed by a 19K bike on the roads around the research park, and ends with a 3K run, that again utilizes the greenway.  This course has some hills mixed in with flat sections, which makes it a great race for veterans and novice athletes!

Location: University City Research Park (10101 David Taylor Dr.)
Time: Registration at 6:30 AM; Race Start: 8:00 AM

Intro into Mountain Biking with the Dirt Divas

Come join Charlotte’s premier women’s mountain biking club to learn everything you need to know about mountain biking!  The Dirt Diva’s will provide basic tips on how to ride your mountain bike and then take you around the trails of North Meck and let you practice your new skills.  This ride is for anyone who owns a mountain bike and has a desire to learn to ride!

Time: 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM

Poker Ride 2012

Ride the rolling hills of Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus and Stanly counties picking up random playing cards along the way.The best 3 poker hands win cash prizes of $250/$150/$100. There is a party at the finish with food, beer and soft drinks plus great music.

Taste & Cycle

Charlotte NC Tours will guide you around the lively downtown streets of Charlotte while stopping at several of the City's favorite eateries to taste the local cuisine! The fee covers the cost of the guided tour and tastings.

2nd Annual MSMF Bicycle Scavenger Hunt

Bring your bikes and join us for an exciting and challenging bicycle scavenger hunt around Southend and Dilworth, which supports the Michael Scott Mater Foundation! This event is open to individuals and teams of 3-5 with prizes for the top finishers in each category. Tyber Creek Pub is providing appetizers after the race, so come out for a day full of fun and adventure!

Bike to Green Goats and Gardens

Green Goats and Gardens is an exciting event providing opportunities to educate the public about shaping a sustainable future. The festival will offer environmental displays, live music, activities for kids, vendors selling food and crafts and the never-ending munch of hungry goats eating their way through a 4-acre brushy hillside! Radio personalities Matt and Ramona from 107.9 The Link will also be in attendance and will broadcast their show from the festival. Bring your bikes for a free bicycle inspection provided by the experts at Bike Line and plan to let the kids take part in a Bike Safety Rodeo. Also, for children 10 and younger, there will be a goat-mask coloring contest where they can win a new bicycle! Cyclists, runners, and walkers can hit the Mallard, Clark's and Toby Creek greenways - just a short distance from our festival. The 12 miles of trails will wind you around neighborhoods, forests, the UNC Charlotte campus, University Place, stores, restaurants (and bathrooms!).

Join us on a fun cycling adventure around Uptown!  We will stop at some of Charlotte’s favorite local breweries and pubs to allow you the opportunity to taste their beverages.  Bikes, helmets, and locks are included in this price; however, tastings are not.
